#FlashbackFriday: Lipstick & Lingerie Nights

“IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT.” -WALT DISNEY

Any great idea or vision first starts as a dream…and ours was a wild one. With big stars & solar systems in our eyes, we spent hours tossing ideas around – looking to awaken some creative release. For Asia N. LeathersJalice & Coand WomanityNOW – our dreams came true last weekend with the launch of Lipstick & Lingerie Night and Queens in the City takeover! Queens in the City is a collaborative network of local influencers who want to build their brands amongst other women in Charlotte. For Asia, ‘Queen Naj’ and I, it felt natural that we decided to establish this coalition of amazing & talented women ready to put the WORK back in networking. Asia is a lifestyle blogger + contributor for Jassilu.com and Najee, owner of Jalice & Co. is a fellow Public Relations specialist & event planning extraordinaire! Fate has made us family over the years, growing up in East Charlotte, so it was a matter of time before we found a way to blossom and flourish together. SisterhoodNow we needed a fun, creative way to introduce our new niche. All we knew was that the world was sleeping on the power of women, and it was time for a real wake up call! Thus Lipstick & Lingerie was born.

Last Friday night – coincidentally on 11/11! – we hosted our first ‘Ladies Night In’ for fellow Queens around the Queen City to enjoy an evening of dinner, dessert, discussions and more! Women of all ages & backgrounds had a chance to let our hair down (literally), be confident and comfortable in a ‘judgement-free’ environment and open up about how we want to come together as women to shape our society. The evening opened with our icebreaker activity – “Let’s WINE About It” where we had a roundtable discussion and personalized complimentary glasses for each guest as dinner was prepared. The night ended with “pillow talk” time, where we did a “Let That Hurt Go” session. Each woman named people or circumstances we have been battling, wrote them on balloons, and popped them to symbolize #LettingThatHurtGo – which was by far the best part of the night! As everyone parted ways, we made sure the night was SWAK (Sealed With a Kiss) as each lady left with sweet goodies & treats as our Thank You!
